Love Football: Love Reading, a reading guide I have written for the National Literary Trust
Published in March, Love Football: Love Reading is a toolkit full of ideas to use during the 2010 World Cup finals, which start in June. It is available free to all schools and libraries. It has ideas about activities, book groups and displays that can be used to hook football lovers into loving reading too. It is available on the National Literacy Trust website www.literacytrust.org.uk/worldcup

Classroom Read
During the World Cup 2010 I wrote a classroom read aimed at KS2 and KS3 children. The story was called The World Cup Mystery and was published in 500 word chunks early on the morning of every school day between those dates. The story included things that happened the day before in the tournament and responded to events as they unfolded.

Quotes from teachers and librarians

The best thing was that your visit has encouraged some of the more reluctant readers in the group - especially when you talked about how you got into reading - Yvette Gunther, Nottingham High School

After your visit it was lovely to hear the children’s excitement ...it was such a boost to their love of the written word and I cannot thank you enough - Joan Mercer, teacher Stockport Grammar School

You were a big hit! Let's organise a return visit! - Lucy Shepherd, Bristol Grammar School
